The electric RV market is becoming more competitive, and at CES 2024 we were given a glimpse of possibly the most high-tech one we’ve encountered so far.

Pebble, a startup from California, created the Pebble Flow with a group of ex-staff from Apple, Tesla, Cruise, and Volvo.

The evidence indicates that the Pebble Flow is already equipped for Starlink internet and is the first with partially automated features. Advancements are achieved via software updates sent wirelessly.

The company is currently accepting pre-orders at pebblelife.com/preorder for a refundable deposit of $500. Initial shipments are expected to be sent out towards the end of 2024, likely to a wealthy, technology-savvy customer base. The Pebble Flow has a starting price of $109,000, but for $125,000 you can get additional automated features.

HOLIDAY AUTOMATION RELAXATION

The beginning of a trip in the Pebble Flow is marked by the vehicle automatically attaching to the trailer hitch. The Nvidia Drive Orin system-on-a-chip powers the system, serving as a “scalable supercomputer” that provides 254 trillion operations per second of compute power.

Pebble CTO Stefan Solyom usually has his wife in the back assisting with spotting when he hooks up an RV. Presently, we possess cameras along with advanced vision technology that can identify the hitch ball, move towards it, and make the connection.

When the Pebble Flow reaches the campground, it self-sets up using the “InstaCamp” feature. The RV uses stabilizers to level itself, unlocks the door, unfolds entryway stairs, activates temperature controls, turns on lights, and extends the awning. When it’s time to leave at the end of the journey, the opposite occurs.

Battery capable of moving itself without assistance pulls the weight it carries.

While driving, the trailer moves on its own to decrease resistance on the lead vehicle, leading to less frequent visits to the gas station or charging station for electric vehicles. A battery with a capacity of 45 kilowatt-hours is located between the two wheels.

It charges at all types of EV chargers (level 1, 2, and DC fast charging), and replenishes energy while driving with regenerative braking and up to 1kW from rooftop solar panels. In cold weather, the HVAC system assists in maintaining the battery at the right temperature to protect it, even though Yang admits that there will be some effect.

Stream Content, Work from Anywhere Using Starlink Internet Connection

A pre-installed connection to Elon Musk’s satellite-based Starlink internet allows for streaming content and remote work without relying on traditional grid connections.
According to the website, the Pebble is equipped for Starlink and mobile data and is easy to set up, allowing you to stay connected no matter where you are. However, please remember that you will still be required to purchase your own Starlink dish ($599) from SpaceX and maintain an active subscription to Starlink Roam ($150 per month).

The precise way in which the plug-and-play connection functions is still a topic of discussion. Pebble will unveil the ultimate design later this year as production nears completion, PCMag reports. The company is currently developing a method to link the RV to the owner’s home Wi-Fi network for use as a home office or guest house.

Clever design turns small areas into stylish places.

Within the Pebble Flow, there are three designated sections: a seating and dining area to the right, a kitchen and bathroom in the center, and a living room that doubles as a sleeping area to the left.

The Pebble Flow is slightly more compact than the Lightship L1 RV, which measures 27 feet in length, 8.5 feet in width, and up to 10 feet in height when stationary (the ceilings lower during travel for aerodynamic purposes).

The dimensions of the Pebble Flow are slightly smaller, measuring 25 feet in length, 7.6 feet in width, and 8.8 feet in height.

However, Pebble still manages to maximize the area with a couple of tricks to save space.

The living room transforms into a sleeping space when a murphy bed is pulled down from the wall. When the bed is not in use, the demonstration vehicle featured a projector displaying a movie on the wall.

In the kitchen, the cooktop is removable and can also be used as a portable stove, reducing the gear travelers must pack. Solyom explains that the core idea is being able to bring your home with you wherever you go.

At last, the bathroom features adequate storage and a petite sink. Located at the RV’s center, the smart fogging feature can instantly make the glass opaque with the push of a button.
