ACCIONA has collaborated with Nissan for the release of the new Silence S04 NanoCar, a compact, 100% electric car created for city living. Beginning in June, Nissan will control distribution rights for the car in France and Italy, along with Silence’s electric motorcycles, and will then move into more European markets in September.
The collaboration allows Silence, ACCIONA’s electric vehicle label, to tap into Nissan’s extensive dealer network in Europe, creating a significant avenue for distribution.
The Silence S04 NanoCar is a vehicle with four wheels that merges the safety and comfort of a car with the maneuverability of a motorcycle, leading towards future sustainable urban mobility. The agreement involves Nissan distributing a new Silence electric vehicle that differs from a typical two-wheeler. The S04 Nanocar, upon initial inspection, appears somewhat similar to a Smart ForTwo. The Silence S04 Nanocar runs on electricity and can utilize interchangeable battery stations in the markets it is sold in.
The agreement between ACCIONA and Nissan makes it easier for people to switch to electric vehicles, ensuring that the transition to electric mobility is open and available to all.
Nissan recently introduced a new strategic business plan, called The Arc, which aims to achieve business growth and transformation through the utilization of strategic partnerships among other objectives. The partnership with Silence highlights this approach.
Silence S04 NanoCar ,the two-person car, uses a new battery system that can be easily removed for charging at home or work. Silence plans to expand its battery exchange service to more European markets next year, following the model already in place in Spain and aiming to lower the upfront cost of its vehicles.
In Spain, there are over 110 battery station locations with a total of 1,110 battery swap units already in place. The aim is to achieve 160 stations and 1,600 battery swap units by the end of the year.
The upcoming addition to the Silence family will be available in two varieties: L6e and L7e.
Acciona states that the L6e can be used without a driver’s license. It can reach a maximum speed of 45 kilometers per hour, which is equivalent to just under 28 miles per hour. It makes use of one six-kilowatt battery for functioning.
The L7e provides slightly increased range and power compared to other models, and necessitates a valid driver’s license for operation. Silence’s two batteries, totaling 14 kilowatts, allow for an estimated range of approximately 149 kilometers (equivalent to about 92 miles). According to Acciona, the maximum speed is approximately 85 km/h (or slightly less than 53 mph).
The necessary energy is provided by two 5.6 kWh batteries in Silence S04 NanoCar that can be taken out and carried like a rolling suitcase. The battery can be rapidly and conveniently recharged at home or in the office, or swapped at designated stations (for subscribers).
The addition of S04 to the Silence electric scooter lineup will expand their presence in Nissan dealerships across select European markets.
Starting in June 2024, Nissan and Silence will make available Silence electric scooters and Silence S04 NanoCar at dealerships in France and Italy. Starting in September 2024, they will also be accessible in Germany.
In Spain, Silence has announced that it now has more than 110 locations offering its battery swap stations. The current goal is to increase that number to a minimum of 160 locations by the end of 2024.
Automobiles such as these appear suitable for densely populated urban areas where residents occupy a limited amount of space in which to live. Incorporate the design in overly expansive areas may present challenges, but densely populated cities are well-suited for such solutions.
Unusually, Silence also gives owners the opportunity to join their battery-as-a-service subscription plan.
With a battery subscription service, you don’t have to worry about owning the problem. By utilizing a battery swapping subscription service, the company you subscribe to can more effectively track the health of batteries, allowing them to replace older batteries with new ones and recycle the old ones into their original materials. The batteries can be removed from use and swapped with new ones once they have reached a specific level of charging capacity.
This also lowers ownership costs for potential buyers, reducing hassles and expanding accessibility for potential EV owners. Structures like this are effective methods to increase the number of people who embrace EVs.
The prices of different Silence models may differ depending on the market. Although the distribution will start with the advanced Silence S04 NanoCar and specific electric scooters, there are intentions to provide a broader range of micro-mobility options in the future for individuals and businesses of various sizes and types.
We’re excited to see the development of the partnership between Nissan and Silence.S
